Penn thought the tweet, which essentially labelled him a terrorist, was hilarious, made all the more so by the fact that the scene was poking fun at racism in the U.S. He tweeted that he couldn’t stop laughing after seeing the flub.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on October 13 that the United States was not providing Russia with information about terrorist sites in Syria and the locations which must not be attacked by aircraft.

On Wednesday morning, Russia’s ambassador to Britain, Alexander Yakovenko, posted a message on his personal Twitter account that sought to criticise U.S. ultimatums given to Iraq about Russian involvement in the country. “The terrorists must be rejoicing”, the ambassador wrote in his tweet.

“Indeed, we will be working with the British to help them feel the real strategy and realize that the destruction of terrorism personified by ISIS is our common goal, which essentially meets national interests of the United Kingdom”, Yakovenko said.

Penn took notice of how Yakovenko seemed completely serious in his tweet, and told his followers that he “couldn’t stop laughing”. But it was the actor who got the last laugh, responding with an image of Rocky IV’s Russian fighter Ivan Drago.
