Chinese company Oppo Electronics has announced its latest smartphone - the R7s at an event in Dubai. It’s also worth mentioning that the smartphone will ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, along with Color OS 2.1 on top of it. There’s a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, which is covered by subtly curved 2.5D glass. Considering what we’ve seen from the current crop of devices, it’s slightly disappointing that the Oppo R7s is lacking a USB Type-C port as Oppo has resorted to using a standard micro USB port instead. Wanting to bank on the success of the R7 series of phones, Oppo has chose to launch the Oppo R7s, which was first spotted on TENAA since more than a month ago. The Oppo R7s packs upgraded hardware along with an even nicer design than its predecessor.

Oppo R7 Plus houses a Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset with a Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & quad-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A53 processor and an Adreno 405 GPU.

For photography lovers, the Oppo R7s is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear snapper with LED flash and an 8-megapixel front-facing selfie unit. However, Oppo R7 Plus’ RAM is 1GB lower compared with R7s’, which is is 4GB.

Also, other territories, like the Middle East, North Africa, will get the phone in December, while USA and European customers won’t be so lucky, as the only way to get the Oppo R7s will be through the OppoStyle web platform.

OPPO has not yet revealed how much the OPPO R7s will cost, though it will most likely be within the $400-480 range of the R7 and R7 Plus. Power is supplied by a 3070mAh battery, which benefits from Oppo’s VOOC Flash Charge technology, which can provide two hours of talk time after just five minutes of charging.

The device has dual SIM functionality and has 4G support. As of now, there is no word on the pricing and availability, but the R7s is initially expected to debut in Australia, followed by Asian markets in the next month.
