After Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Shelby Miller held the Arizona Diamondbacks without a hit for the first seven innings, East Longmeadow native Nick Ahmed broke through with a bloop single to centerfield to lead off the eighth.
De La Rosa kept his focus by getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the fifth, giving his team a chance to win by only allowing one run to score.
That was hardly the case Friday night.
“At the end of the day, we got a victory and that’s awesome”, Miller said. “When my fastball is on it keeps (hitters) honest and off that off-speed stuff”.
The team has been fun to watch as they have found a more consistent rhythm as of late. Foltynewicz allowed six runs on nine hits, leaving his ERA at 5.61. “They did a nice job”.
The Arizona Diamondbacks had no trouble producing runs in their last series. Paul Goldschmidt had a pair of hits two, driving in a couple of welcome insurance runs in the ninth, but struck out the other three times he was up.
“We had our opportunities”, Hale said. However, the Braves did win the game as Cameron Maybin came through with his first career walk-off homer to defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-1 in 10 innings.
We’ll see if home-field advantage will be on the Braves’ side or if the D-backs can continue their success against Atlanta.
Ahmed moved to third on Jarrod Saltalamacchia’s pinch hit single, and scored on Ender Inciarte’s ground out, tying the game at one.
The Diamondbacks made it 3-2 in the eighth off David Aardsma on A.J. Pollock’s RBI single. Hessler allowed three hits, including doubles by center fielder Cameron Maybin and third baseman Adonis Garcia.
Edwin Jackson has been told to use the final few weeks of the season as an audition for 2016. Peralta began the night hitting. 354 over their last six games. “He threw the ball really well”, Hale said.

Cuban 3B Hector Oliveras (hamstring) will play for Class A Rome on Sunday, with his Braves debut expected in about a week…. Olivera is still recovering from a hamstring injury.
The Arizona Diamondbacks will look to clinch their first series win against the Braves since 2007 behind Rubby De La Rosa in the rubber game at Turner Field in Atlanta.
Teheran is 2-2 over his last seven outings but posted five quality starts. This game will feature De La Rosa (RHP) on the mound against the Braves, who have a 44-51 record when they take on a right-handed starter.
