In Tweet After Tweet, Tinder Swipes at Vanity Fair Article

The normally fairly relaxed Twitter account - which largely tweets memes stolen from the internet - began a hours-long blast of updates that began with factual corrections and ended with an impassioned defence of Tinder’s contribution to dating culture. We surveyed 265,000 of our users.

And there was no love lost between Tinder and Sales, who publicly questioned whether she should have asked for the company’s permission to write about it.

“Most [singles] want to have fun, meet interesting people, feel sexual attraction and, at some point, settle into a serious relationship”, he wrote. It also made reference to the story of a lesbian journalist in Pakistan, who used the app to get around the country’s same-sex relationship ban. Stories like these literally tumble off the lips of nearly every user of these dating apps, but first, what is it about Tinder, OKCupid, and their Indian counterparts such as Truly Madly, Matchify and Woo that is getting everyone, including that very-married neighbour of yours, latching on to them?

It all started when Tinder’s PR people took issue with a tidbit the author tweeted about the supposed number of Tinder users who are married.

“I’ll protect our brand bc I believe in the power of the 8 bil connections we have created”.

“The ability to meet people outside of your closed circle in this world is an immensely powerful thing”.

The Twitter meltdown has been saved in full by various news and technology sites, with some wondering if Tinder’s PR team might soon regret their hasty tweets. As someone who has tried various dating apps including Skout (“it was a brilliant app but you had to pay to use its services”) Mendes was an early adopter of Tinder in Bengaluru. On our second date, we went to the Baltimore Museum of Art and an art fair in a nearby neighborhood.

“If you want to try to tear us down with one-sided journalism, well, that’s your prerogative”.

“This all creates social accountability so that Tinder users treat each other well”.

“But it’s not going to dissuade us from building something that is changing the world”.
