A video of Grohl telling the crowd at Friday night’s concert that he thinks he broke his leg has gone viral and has been viewed almost 2.7 million times since it was posted. “Dave Grohl broke his leg and did this, what a hero hahaha”, wrote one on Twitter.

The band will no longer pay their scheduled performances at the Pinkpop Festival in Landgraaf, The Netherlands, on Sunday 14 June and the AFG Arena in St Gallen, Switerzland, on Monday 15 June.

The band later confirmed the extent of Grohl´s damage by tweeting an x-ray of the leg fracture. “That was fantastic.” Fans took to social media to praise the former Nirvana drummer’s display of great spirit and professionalism.

The frontman was able to heroically finish that Gothenburg show, but some much-needed rest has led to Foos pulling out of two shows.

The Friday’s performance in Sweden and the subsequent performances were a part of Foo Fighters’ ongoing world tour Sonic Highways, which is their eighth tour and commenced after the launch of their eighth studio album having the same title.

And that’s what happened; Grohl left the stage to get medical attention, then was carried back on stage on a stretcher, with his foot bandaged. The next show is due on June 19 in Wembley Stadium in London, which may also be called off given the circumstances.
