‘Castle’ season 8 spoilers: Is ‘Caskett’ heading to splitsville?

Fillion also revealed that Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley reassured him that Rick and Kate will get back together later on in the episode. In episode 4 of Season 8 of ABC’s “Castle“, he was able to solve both a murder and a case of mistaken identity, but that did nothing to woo the stubborn Beckett.

In episode 4 entitled “What Lies Beneath”, Rick discovers the death of his favorite author and decides to take the investigation into his hands.

He’ll be more focused on finding the ways, rather than digging deeper into the truth as to why she had decided for them to split.

“I asked them if they were high”, Fillion revealed during a panel The Paley Center for Media Saturday.

In an interview with TV Line, the actor said that he feels it’s necessary so that fans will start rooting for the onscreen couple again. “We have a few really great twists and turns”, he said. A few fans wrote on Design & Trend that they are not happy with Winter and Hawley splitting up the two because fans waited for them to be together for the past seven seasons. Fillion further explained, “People had a desire, a wont, for them to fight for something”. She walked out of her marriage to find the Kingpin - the powerful partner of now dead William Bracken (Jack Coleman) - who is calling the shots from within the Central Intelligence Agency, and also to keep her husband out of harm’s way. “What ends up happening is, of course, we get to a place where Castle and Beckett are building theory together, figuring out who’s behind whatever the murder of the week is”.

Aside from the mystery, one other compelling little bit of story was getting a chance to see a fun moment between Castle and Beckett for a change! Catch it on ABC at 10 p.m. on Monday, October 12.
