EVA Airways commits to up to 26 Boeing widebody aircraft

This includes up to 24 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft and two additional 777-300ER or extended range jetliners.

Boeing said that the purchases will be valued at more than US$8 billion at current list prices.

“We are delighted to receive our first Dreamliner which combined with Oman Air’s award-winning service will provide an excellent travel experience for our customers”, Oman Air Chief Executive Officer Paul Gregorowitsch said. North Charleston will be the only place to make the plane because of its size.

Prior to EVA’s order, Boeing had sold a total of 146 B787-10s to eight customers, including Etihad, Singapore Airlines, British Airways, United Airlines and ANA.

EVA Airways, which will be among the first airlines to operate the latest version of the 787, now operates a fleet of 37 Boeing aircraft including 21 777-300ERs. EVA Airways has always invested in the most advanced aircraft, and the deal will support its Asian route, due to its growing cargo demand.

The sale consists of two 777-300ER jets and 24 of the 787-10 Dreamliner, Boeing said Thursday in a statement.

The new 787-10 will be the longest member of the 787 family, joining the 787 and the 787-9. “EVA Airways has been a valued Boeing customer over the past few decades and we are honoured that they continue to introduce new Boeing wide-body airplanes into their growing world-class fleet”.

Boeing officially launched the 787-10 at the Paris Air Show in 2013.
