Sony Today announced in the us that it will cut the price of the PlayStation 4 $399.99 to $349.99, matching the price of Microsoft’s Xbox One console. As the PS4 with Limited Edition Call of Duty: Black Ops III or National Hockey League 16 is now available for $430, while the Limited Edition Disney Infinity 3.0: Star Wars or Star Wars Battlefront is now priced at $400.

A spokesman at Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., the group’s videogame arm, said that the aim of cutting the prices at this time is to fuel momentum of PlayStation 4 toward the end of the year and holiday season. The new United Kingdom price could be as low as £299, to match the Xbox One, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a smaller drop-to £329 or thereabouts.

A good answer could perhaps be on the available games on the game consoles which is, apparently, another factor for consumers to consider. Now, for the holiday season, Sony will cut the price of the PlayStation 4 permanently to $350. Given the fact that the holiday shopping spree is approaching, we think it was a smart move from Sony to make its console more affordable. With the company already way out in front in the console wars with Microsoft and Nintendo in terms of sales, this groundbreaking news should only help Sony sell more PS4s.

The $50 reduction, which will begin October. 9, comes almost two years after the tech-giant launched the PS4 in North America on Nov.15, 2013 for $399. Since the release of the PlayStation 4, Sony has dominated the home gaming console market. This Limited Edition will launch alongside Black Ops III on November 6.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is a remastered version of all three Uncharted games releasing exclusively for the PS4. Microsoft argued that families and gamers would see the extra value they were getting with the Xbox One’s Kinect Sensor and Xbox Live. Through the first quarter of 2015, Sony has sold a total of 25.3 million units.
