Lloyd felt so much anger towards the George Lucas directed film that he destroyed all of his Star Wars memorabilia, and only reprised his role as Anakin for five video games.

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace was Lloyd’s breakout role, following parts in movies such as Jingle All the Way, and his only onscreen appearance as Anakin. Strickland said deputies didn’t believe he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

He was arrested for “for reckless driving, failure to stop, resisting arrest and driving without a license”.

Lloyd was going “well over 100 miles per hour” and driving erratically, the spokesperson said.

Strickland said it was unclear why Broadbent was in South Carolina - his address is in Colorado - or why he tried to evade police.

Sheriff’s deputies said that he was driving recklessly and crossing double yellow lines in order to pass cars. Eventually, police say Lloyd lost control of his vehicle and plowed through a fence into a wooded area before ultimately coming to a stop upon crashing into some trees.

The man gave his name as Jake Broadbent, Sergeant Kyle Strickland said.

Lloyd 26, was arrested in South Carolina after leading cops on the chase for 25 miles, Colleton County Sheriff’s Sgt.

He later claimed it drove him out of the business, telling British tabloid “The Sun” in 2012 his jealous classmates had made his childhood a “living hell”.
