The bad news? This is down four-tenths from the 5.0 rating the show drew last week, though it’s possible that it could rise at least slightly in the final numbers that are coming up later today. Earlier in the night, Rosewood hit 1.4 (5.03m) at 8pm. We thought that “Rosewood” would for sure get a full season, but with it having less than a third of the show that comes on after it, we’re not so sure anymore.

Empire’s 4.6 was down 13% from last week’s 5.3, which was down considerably from the season premiere’s 6.5.

Over on ABC, The Middle garnered 2.0 (7.12m) at 8pm, The Goldbergs took 2.0 (6.35m) at 8.30pm, Modern Family averaged 2.7 (7.88m) at 9pm, and Black-ish attracted 1.8 (5.66m) at 9.30pm.

From there, “Criminal Minds” (1.7/5 in 18-49, 8.9 million viewers overall) and “Code Black” (1.2/4 in 18-49, 6.9 million viewers overall) matched their scores of last week. “Modern Family” was again down more than 20% from past year when it didn’t face “Empire”, but was again Wednesday’s No. 2 series in 18-49. Sudsy musical drama Nashville averaged a 1.2, up 8% from last week’s figure.

NBC’s best were “The Mysteries of Laura” with 6.9 million, followed by “Chicago P.D.” with 6.6 million and “Law & Order: SVU” with 6.2 million.

NBC’s The Mysteries of Laura scored 1.0 (6.92m) at 8pm. “Arrow” held at last week’s premiere score in adults 18-34 (0.9), which was up from a 0.7 for its second episode of last season, and led among the broadcasters for its hour in men 18-34 (1.0/5).

But “Empire” was the overwhelming favorite with the local 18-to-49 age group.
