Since Facebook launched its “On This Day” feature in March this year, many users continue to complain that the feature is reminding them of past memories they’d want buried behind them, even though it also shows up good memories alongside the bad ones.

Now that Facebook finally lets you modify its reminders, your heartstrings might not be tugged quite so much.

Facebook’s “On This Day” feature has brought up a lot of happy memories, but it’s also dredged up moments a few users would rather not re-live. A few have suggested to the company to develop a feature which would make it easier to access such memories, to offer a simple alternative to keep scrolling down through old posts or searching through countless photos for a specific one from a certain period of time.

Well, the good news is that you can now filter out your worst Facebook memories from On This Day thanks to a new feature that should in theory lead to far fewer unpleasant surprises.

Facebook has tools/features that let you relive past moments, but not all moments are something you want to see crop up in your newsfeed.

A few of the memories that can be blocked by the feature include one’s posts and posts tagged by friends.

This feature is still not accessible on mobile, but filters added on your account using desktop will affect the feature on mobile. “So for the millions of people who use On This Day, we’ve added these filters to give them more control over the memories they see”.

Whether it’s photos of exes or status updates from friends who passed away, Facebook’s nostalgia machine regularly reminds us of people and places we once thought lost in the annals of the Internet.
