Is it 100 percent certain that Grohl, a Northern Virginia native, will be playing with the band on that broken leg? And yes, it moves too.
With its leather seats, rim of spotlights and multiple guitar stands, Grohl’s custom-built chair resembles a rock star’s version of The Iron Throne from Game of Thrones. That would be absolutely insane, as not only is the injury serious and just three weeks old, but for a frontman as active onstage as Grohl is known for being, his mobility will be severely limited. The North American tour kicked off on July 4th for the Foo Figthers and Grohl had no plans of cancelling this tour. He loves both parts so much that he’s coming to perform at the nation’s capital on July 4th, Saturday, as part of the Foo Fighters 20th Anniversary Blowout at RFK Stadium.
Grohl sang and shredded, while wearing a purple cast. Tracks from the album are usually scarce in setlists, but this time around the album was widely celebrated with tracks such as “Alone + Easy Target” and “For All The Cows”.
Gary Clark Jr., Buddy Guy, LL Cool J, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue and Trouble Funk also played at the Foo Fighters-headlined show.
Many say, including Grohl, he is a direct product of Washington, D.C.’s late 80s punk scene. If a streaming music service tried to use the band’s music for free, they’d have none of it. That’s what the Taylor Swift-Apple blowup was about. If her appearance didn’t add anything musically, it was entirely appropriate to a show that was more amiable than exciting.
