Ferrari to increase production to 9000 units annually by 2019

After the IPO, people who bought Ferrari stocks can look forward to more production and probably higher profits as well. Not everyone can own a Ferrari and even those who do have the financial capacity to buy its models often have to wait as much as a year to get the auto. Ferrari has vowed to maintain its reputation of exclusivity. Collectors worry that it might lower the value of Ferraris. But with Sergio Marchionne running the show and an initial public offering looming the desire to meet growing demand for Ferrari cars appears too strong to resist. In 2013, Ferrari announced that it would deliberately cap annual production at about 7000 cars to “in order to maintain a reputation of exclusivity among purchasers of our cars”.

The world’s most prestigious and exclusive automobile brand has chose to increase production of their cars which means now we can more and more Ferrari’s on the road and that they wont be as exclusive as before.

In the filing, Ferrari also said the number of people able to afford one its models is growing, particularly in emerging markets where previously the automaker had little presence. And it is no wonder that the Italian supercar maker was never bothered by the numbers.

Ferrari manufactures its cars at its plant in Maranello which also has a track to test new products.

But as far as the normal production models are concerned, there really is a legitimate argument that their pre-owned values will soften with more models being made available to the public.
